Mobile Web and Apps

bg-juggleSemandra develops mobile optimized websites, upgrades existing websites to be mobile friendly, and can also build stand-alone mobile apps which can be made available in the Apple App Store, Google Play, or in the Windows App Store.

Not sure what you need? We can help you with that too.

Website Optimization for Mobile

Semandra can build a new, fully optimized mobile-friendly website from scratch, or take an existing website and modify layouts and styling to make it mobile ready.

For most new websites, we recommend building ones which have flexible and responsive layouts, which look good on tiny phone screen sizes, all the way up to ultra-wide desktop monitors. These sites can also be adaptive, adjusting the user interface interactions depending on whether a visitor is on a touch device or using a mouse. In a nutshell, these website designs are device agnostic and are not optimized for any specific hardware or screen size. This makes for the best experience for visitors, as well as helping to future-proof designs and interfaces.

For existing websites, Semandra can update designs and interfaces to become more mobile friendly. This could be through modifying or creating new a theme for the existing Content Management System (like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.) or by more fundamentally redeveloping the coding and styling of a site, while retaining the current content. Upgrading an existing site may also include performance improvements, by reducing file sizes and HTTP requests on a page, to speed up the site for mobile users, who may be on slower connections.

Mobile Applications

Semandra can design and build mobile applications, and publish them for clients to the Apple iTunes or to Google Play. Depending on the app, we keep development time and costs down by using an open-source framework called PhoneGap. PhoneGap (phonegap.com) makes it possible to build powerful and attractive mobile apps using the same technologies (HTML5, CSS and Javascript) that websites are built from.  This means a single development can be released for platforms. For most applications, this works very well, and results in an excellent product at a substantially lower cost. Though this method is not suitable for all applications, for most it works well. Discuss your project with us, and we’ll make sure that we find right technology for you.
